Digital Dún Laoghaire Steering Group

Digital Dun Laoghaire is a local, volunteer driven initiative. Its goal is to help businesses and social enterprises in our town transition to the digital economy, to help attract and grow new businesses here and project Dun Laoghaire Town through digital channels as a great place to shop, work and spend time. Since Digital Dún Laoghaire’s inception in March 2016 the initiative has run over 25 events and training sessions with a total attendance to date of approximately 1,100 business people.

To carry out the goals of Digital Dun Laoghaire a steering group of representatives from relevant organisations, associations and companies associated with the town meet on a quarterly basis. The work of this steering group includes -

  1. Providing input into the creation of the Digital Dun Laoghaire programme of events including topics and nominating speakers.
  2. Setting the editorial policy and the strategic development of the services of the Dún Laoghaire Town website.
  3. Support the goal of bringing more footfall to the town through activating  coworking and shared office spaces in the town.

  4. Create an annual PreBudget Submission to DLR CoCo highlighting ways that the digital layer for the town could be advanced and supported.

  5. Identifying digital related projects that can increase footfall and capture rate for local businesses and submitting grant applications to support implementing these projects.

As part of the work of establishing the Dún Laoghaire Town Team, Digital Dún Laoghaire was given responsibility for digital communications and digital enablement for the town. The specific outputs Digital Dún Laoghaire has responsibility for include:

  • Issuing B2C and B2B newsletters for the town.

  • Managing the town's website and social media.

  • Delivering events that attract new businesses to the town.

  • Initiatives/training that enable local, traditional businesses to get more business from the web.
